$17.08 per hour, per RSPA Master Agreement for Classification I

  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                       

  1. High School Diploma and excellent command of the English language.
  2. General office experience required.
  3. Good basic computer skills and aptitude to learn software programs used in this position.
  4. Ability to handle a variety of duties and to accomplish tasks with interruptions.
  5. Ability to interact positively with school/community and to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Excellent organizational skills.
  7. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance required.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

REPORTS TO: Counselors and Building Administrators

 

 

JOB GOAL: To serve the counseling/administrative staff by acting as a facilitator in solving problems, scheduling counseling sessions, and completing other tasks of the counseling office as requested.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance responsibilities will vary depending on the specific requirements of a building.  The performance responsibilities listed below represent an overview of the responsibilities for this position.

  • Serves as a positive public relations advocate for the department, school and District by interacting appropriately with visitors, staff, and students, answering questions, relaying messages; and following through with problem resolutions.
  • Processes, updates, and maintains student records, including class lists, interim reports, report cards, and grade sheets.
  • Provides clerical/secretarial support to the counseling staff.
  • Assists ancillary staff and counselors in meeting the needs of students, staff, and/or parents.
  • Maintains the daily student attendance records for the building utilizing graphical attendance and makes calls home personally for students that are unexcused for the day. Responsible for sending attendance letters on a quarterly basis.  Maintains and processes truancy information based on the District criteria.
  • Maintains school/student records, such as emergency cards, CA-60’s immunization records, student homeroom lists, etc.
  • Follows the District’s “Administration of Medication” policy, Medical Management Plans, and complies with Health Department requirements and related agencies.
  • Provides assistance to students who report to the clinic; assists with health/injury emergencies in a prompt, appropriate manner; makes contact with appropriate parties concerning injury/illness; and monitors clinic supplies, as needed. Processes all accident reports.
  • Supervises distribution and collection of student data.
  • Distributes and collects data, including homework requests, pre-arranged absences, early and late dismissal, CA-60’s for incoming and outgoing students, information for Fourth Friday Report, and phone messages for students from parents/guardians. Processes student work permits.
  • Assists administrators as requested.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 10.5 month position.
  2. Salary and benefits as per master agreement for Classification I.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. An employee working in this assignment will be required to sit for long periods of time and work on a desktop computer.
  2. Data entry and record search is a large part of the duties of this position and repetitive hand motion will be required.

 

REQUIRED POSITION TESTS: 

Microsoft Office Current District Version: Intermediate Word and Excel, and PowerPoint; and Office Basic Outlook; OPAC Clerical Skills Assessments in: Bank Deposits/Petty Cash; Customer Service Phone Skills; Numeric/Alpha/Record Locator Tests, Sentence Clarity, and Spelling.  Encounter Software: Interpersonal/Teamwork Assessment
