Summary/Objective: The Stair Fabricator will work from shop drawings to accurately layout and assemble (weld) stair stringers, and is responsible for the correct rise, run, and pitch of the stair.
Reports to: Stair Department Team Leader
Essential Job Responsibilities: Commit to excellent attendance, and have a desire to work in a craft style job shop environment.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately read and understand shop drawings and shop orders, including all weld symbols.
- Accurately layout, and build fixtures/jigs when needed, fit up and weld stair stringers in the most timely and efficient way possible.
- Properly set welding machines according to WPS parameters.
- Accurately read tape measure or other measuring devices to 1/32”.
- Accurately add and subtract dimensions when necessary.
- Work in a team environment to check layouts for other fabricators.
- Maintain a work pace that meets company standards.
- Be proficient in the use of equipment, machines, and tools required to complete the job.
- Be aware and responsible for surrounding environment and safety orientated with this environment.
- Maintain good housekeeping, keeping your work area neat and orderly at all times.
- Operate overhead pendant or remote controlled bridge crane safely and efficiently.
- Accurately and properly clock in and out on all different jobs and all shop orders worked on.
- Work required hours to help meet production schedule and satisfy the needs of both internal and external customers.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in complete fabrication (layout/fit up and welding) of stairs, or similar welded fabrications.
- Will be required to pass a welding certification test within sixty days of employment.
Work Environment: This job will be performed in a fabrication shop environment where awareness of your surroundings is critical to your safety and the safety of others.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have excellent vision and be able to talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, and will require being on your feet for up to 8 1/2 hours per shift.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, where normal shop hours run from 6am to 3:00pm, Monday – Thursday, and 6am – 12:00pm on Friday. Overtime should be expected, and onsite presence is required for this position.
