Van-Am Defense Systems is a custom manufacturer/fabrication shop located in Waverly, IA. We are seeking strong welding/fabrication candidates to join our outstanding team!
We are seeking experienced Welders for our FOUR-DAY, day shift position!
Day Shift: 6:00AM - 4:00PM, M-Th
Successful Welders will be responsible for welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. This position requires a high level of skill and accuracy, as well as a strong understanding of safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a solid work history and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
MIG with some TIG. Carbon and Stainless. Compensation is based upon skill and experience.
Welder Responsibilities
As a federal government contractor, Van-Am Defense Systems is required to maintain a drug-free workplace under the Drug-Free Workplace Act. As part of the hiring process, all candidates who receive a conditional job offer must undergo a pre-employment drug test, which includes testing for marijuana, regardless of state legalization.

- Operate welding equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Use a variety of welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Perform maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
- Inspect welds for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
