About the Role
We're running an intensive, time-sensitive voter registration drive across DeSoto, Panola, and Marshall Counties, Mississippi, ahead of the October 5, 2026 registration deadline for the November general election. We're hiring Field Canvassers to engage eligible residents at high-traffic community sites and through door-to-door outreach, help them complete Mississippi's official voter registration application, and ensure every form is accurately completed and properly routed to the correct county Circuit Clerk. This is fast-paced, mission-driven work with a hard deadline — ideal for someone who thrives under a countdown and cares about civic participation.
Responsibilities
- Canvass assigned turf door-to-door and staff fixed registration tables at high schools, colleges, libraries, DMV offices, post offices, and community events across the three-county area
- Explain voter eligibility requirements and assist applicants in accurately completing the official Mississippi mail voter registration form
- Collect required supporting documentation per current state requirements, and flag any application needing extra documentation
- Maintain a daily chain-of-custody log for every form collected
- Sort and route completed applications to the correct county Circuit Clerk
- Meet daily and weekly contact/registration goals
- Attend mandatory training sessions on Mississippi voter registration law and program procedures before fieldwork begins
- Travel daily between DeSoto, Panola, and Marshall Counties as assigned; work some evenings and weekends to reach residents outside normal work hours
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Comfortable working outdoors, on your feet, and traveling between multiple counties daily
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable approaching strangers
- Basic comfort with paperwork accuracy and simple data tracking
- Available for the full duration of the program through October 5, 2026, including some evenings/weekends
- Must pass a brief training/certification session on Mississippi voter registration procedures before starting fieldwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior canvassing, GOTV, community organizing, or nonprofit outreach experience
- Familiarity with DeSoto, Panola, or Marshall County communities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- No prior voter registration law knowledge required — full training provided
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
