How You’ll Make An Impact
The Antifreeze Research and Development (R&D) Intern will compelete a 12 week internship program (May-August 2026) on-site at our Lexington, KY headquarters with helping the Coolant group to do formulation blending, testing and data analysis.
Responsibilities Include
- Following Valvoline RC 14001 rules to perform job safely.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to laboratory safety, including proper use of PPE, safe chemical handling, and adherence to OSHA/EPA regulations.
- Getting familiar with our VLIMS system to collect and record data.
- Making formulation blends and collecting data on the blends and/or tests performed on the blends.
- Performing bench top testing as needed for antifreeze blends.
- Performing data analysis and communication with formulators and scientists.
- Familiarity with acid and bases and standard chemical reactions.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
- Currently enrolled in a Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering college program
- Good teamwork mentality.
- Good communication skills.
- Good computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate within a team setting.
- The ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40lbs.
- Basic knowledge of PPE and lab safety protocols.
- Working in a laboratory environment with adherence to safety protocols, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)/ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
