Job Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant keeps the financial engine of Valvetronic Designs running with the same precision we put into our products. Working approximately 20 hours per week, this individual owns day-to-day accounting operations, from AP processing to purchasing to assisting with sales tax compliance, and serves as a trusted partner to both our external Fractional CFO and company leadership. As the finance presence on the ground, this role is more than transactions: it's eyes and ears inside the business, supporting a culture of accountability and helping leadership see around corners. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who values autonomy, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes genuine pride in keeping things accurate, organized, and moving. This is an on-site, part-time position based at our Boyertown, PA office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounts payable processing through Bill.com, including vendor setup, invoice entry, and payment workflows (once approved by financial leadership)
• Review and approve company credit card transactions, ensuring accurate coding, documentation, and policy compliance
• Serve as the sole company cardholder; manage all purchasing for office supplies, equipment, and other approved company needs
• Administer sales tax compliance through Avalara, ensuring accurate filings and staying ahead of multi-state requirements
• Working with an external Controller support month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and accurate maintenance of the general ledger
• Partner with the external Fractional CFO on reporting, close processes, and financial projects
• Partner with the CEO as a culture support and on-the-ground presence, flagging what the numbers and the day-to-day are telling us
• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and internal controls as the company scales
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 5 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and general ledger responsibilities
• Experience with Bill.com, Avalara, or comparable AP and sales tax platforms; comfort learning new systems quickly
• High integrity and sound judgment; this role carries purchasing authority and requires someone who treats company resources as their own
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational and time management skills
• A proactive, self-directed individual who works independently and raises issues early rather than waiting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with leadership and external advisors
• Ability to work on site at our Boyertown, PA office on a consistent part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours per week)
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Skills

• Experience in e-commerce, manufacturing, distribution, or the automotive aftermarket
• Experience supporting a fractional or outsourced CFO model
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite
• Genuine excitement for the automotive industry is a plus, but a passion for clean books is essential

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
