Role Summary:
The Telecom Voice Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise voice communication systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing network infrastructure. This role supports business continuity through reliable, secure, and scalable voice technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain voice infrastructure including VoIP systems, PBXs, SIP trunks, and voice gateways.
- Troubleshoot voice quality issues, call routing failures, and system outages.
- Collaborate with network and system engineers to ensure seamless data and voice integration.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely resolution of escalated support tickets.
- Perform capacity planning, usage analysis, and infrastructure optimization.
- Maintain documentation including network diagrams, configuration files, and change logs.
- Implement voice-related security protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support unified communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in voice engineering, preferably in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of protocols such as SIP, RTP, H.323, and VoIP codecs.
- Experience with systems like Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, or Asterisk.
- Proficiency with voice monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, and QoS strategies.
