Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation in accordance with construction painting standards.
- Operate spray guns, powder coating equipment, airless paint sprayers, and other hand tools to apply coatings accurately and efficiently.
- Interpret production documents such as work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure correct application techniques and coating types.
- Handle materials safely using appropriate materials handling procedures, including forklift operation when necessary.
- Follow safety protocols diligently by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and respiratory protection devices, during all painting activities.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished surfaces to ensure consistency with quality standards in production.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment to promote lean manufacturing practices and optimal workflow.
Requirements
- Proven experience in industrial painting, including conventional spraying, powder coating, or auto body repair is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, machining tools, and fabrication machinery.
- Familiarity with construction painting surface preparation techniques and the use of precision measuring instruments for quality control.
- Ability to interpret production documents accurately while adhering to safety protocol adherence at all times.
- Warehouse experience or familiarity with materials handling equipment such as cranes or forklifts is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thicknesses and material quantities.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to respiratory protection and PPE use in industrial environments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent visual color comparison skills for quality finishing.
