Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about aerospace innovation and ready to be at the forefront of hypersonic flight development. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-stakes environments, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and excels in rapid, iterative design and flight-test development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for hypersonic flight vehicles
- Apply data-driven methodologies to inform design decisions and enhance overall system performance
- Perform structural analysis – including finite element analysis (FEA) – to validate mechanical integrity under extreme flight conditions
- Support the evaluation of critical technologies and provide recommendations to improve existing designs, materials, specifications, and manufacturing methods, enhancing onshore production and the manufacturability of key capabilities in support of national defense and security priorities
- Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation efforts to assess design performance and identify opportunities for refinement
- Clearly communicate technical findings, project updates, and innovative solutions to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design reports, analysis summaries, and test plans; support technical reviews and flight-readiness milestones
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and lead engineering efforts on complex design challenges
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Proven experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in mechanical design and structural analysis
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS)
- Prior experience with hypersonic or high-speed vehicle development is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, adapting to changing project requirements and priorities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards overcoming technical challenges
- Passion for aerospace engineering and a desire for the advancement of hypersonic flight technology
