Allied Manufacturing, Inc. d/b/a Valpro Commercial Refrigeration
Tampa, Florida | Full-time | On-site

About Valpro Commercial Refrigeration

Valpro Commercial Refrigeration supplies commercial refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated preparation tables, merchandisers, undercounter equipment, and related products to restaurant-equipment dealers and commercial customers throughout the United States.

We are seeking a technically capable and dependable individual who wants to develop specialized experience in commercial refrigeration troubleshooting, technical support, warranty-service coordination, and equipment testing.

Candidates may qualify through HVAC or HVAC/R education, relevant work experience, military technical training, appliance or equipment repair, electrical troubleshooting, industrial or facilities maintenance, or another comparable hands-on technical background.

Prior commercial refrigeration employment is helpful but is not required. Product-specific training will be provided.

Position Summary

The HVAC/R Technical Support Specialist assists customers, dealers, and independent service technicians with commercial refrigeration equipment questions and warranty-service needs.

This is primarily an in-house technical-support position, not a traditional residential or commercial field-service route. Much of the work involves telephone and email communication, diagnostic questioning, service coordination, parts identification, case documentation, and follow-up.

The position also includes hands-on inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and basic component replacement on commercial refrigeration equipment and parts at our Tampa facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist customers, dealers, and service technicians with troubleshooting commercial refrigerators, freezers, controls, and related equipment.
  • Ask appropriate diagnostic questions and obtain photographs, videos, temperature readings, electrical readings, and service information.
  • Help determine whether reported equipment problems may be warranty-related or non-warranty-related.
  • Coordinate warranty service with independent HVAC/R and commercial-refrigeration service companies throughout the United States.
  • Provide service technicians with product information, wiring diagrams, parts information, service documentation, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Identify replacement parts and coordinate parts shipments.
  • Create and maintain accurate service cases, notes, and follow-up activities in the company CRM.
  • Follow service matters through completion and maintain professional communication with customers and service companies.
  • Review service-company documentation and invoices for consistency with company warranty-service guidelines.
  • Inspect and test refrigerators, freezers, controllers, motors, sensors, relays, electrical components, and related parts at our Tampa facility.
  • Perform basic component replacement and equipment adjustments after receiving appropriate training.
  • Work cooperatively with sales, warehouse, parts, and management personnel.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a relevant technical foundation obtained through one or more of the following:

  • HVAC, HVAC/R, refrigeration, electrical, industrial-maintenance, appliance-repair, or comparable technical education.
  • Relevant military technical or equipment-maintenance experience.
  • Practical experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, or installing HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, appliance, restaurant, industrial, or other mechanical equipment.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Basic understanding of refrigeration-cycle, electrical, or mechanical principles.
  • Familiarity with a digital multimeter or other electrical diagnostic tools, or a demonstrated ability to learn their proper use.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on equipment inspection and testing.
  • Ability to follow a logical troubleshooting process.
  • Professional telephone, email, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and experienced service technicians.
  • Ability to learn company products, parts, warranty procedures, CRM software, and inventory systems.
  • Dependability, organization, self-motivation, and strong follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple open service matters and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small company team.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Completion of an HVAC or HVAC/R technical-training program.
  • EPA Section 608 certification.
  • Commercial refrigeration experience.
  • HVAC service or air-conditioning experience.
  • Refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, or equipment-repair experience.
  • Appliance, restaurant-equipment, facilities-maintenance, or industrial-maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with wiring diagrams, compressors, fan motors, controllers, sensors, relays, capacitors, and start components.
  • Prior technical-support, warranty-support, or customer-service experience.
  • Experience using CRM or inventory-management software.

Recent technical-school graduates, early-career HVAC technicians, military technicians, and candidates with relevant hands-on repair or maintenance experience are encouraged to apply.

Training and Development

The selected candidate will receive training in Valpro commercial refrigeration products, warranty procedures, parts identification, electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting, equipment testing, service coordination, and technical-support practices.
