The Aquatics Coordinator supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This full-time position supports the Aquatics team by overseeing all lifeguard operations, staffing, and job performances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensuring employee schedules are prepared, including monthly in-services and agendas.
• Execute lifeguard/instructor audits monthly.
• Recruit, interview and hire lifeguard and instructor staff.
• Collaborate with Director of Aquatics strategies to motivate staff, create staff trainings, and achieve department goals.
• Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
• Assists with maintaining inventory and ordering supplies for the department.
• Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations including weekly chemical tests and daily cleaning tasks are conducted.
• Provides general department support including but not limited to responding to inquiries, data tracking, and reporting.
• Maintains visible presence at pool to support staff, ensure best practices, and foster member relationships.
• Responsible for performing rotating weekend supervisor shift duty and assist with special events.
• Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, and substitute for staff as needed
• Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow reporting procedures for accidents, incidents and hazards.
• Adhere to all policies, rules and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training.
• Attend Staff meetings and in-services.
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate within the scope of the job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• American Red Cross Lifeguard; Lifeguard Instructor cert required within 1 yr of hire
• Minimum of 1 year of aquatics experience required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong proof reading and editing skills
• Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook.
• Obtain V6 training and any additional certs the YMCA deems necessary.
SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $18 an hour
Starting rate based on experience
SCHEDULE:
Full-time days
Available outside of traditional hours as needed: including morning, evenings and weekends.
