What You'll Do
As a Machine Operator – Digital Press, you will operate and support digital press production equipment used to print and assemble Valpak envelopes. Your role is to keep equipment running efficiently, maintain quality standards, and quickly troubleshoot minor issues to minimize downtime.
You will work closely with Senior Process Technicians and other team members to keep production moving and continuously improve our manufacturing process.
Digital Press family equipment includes roll-to-roll digital press and roll-to-finish equipment.
Encourage collaboration within the group that creates ownership and pride in delivery of error-free first-pass quality and minimal work/waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently
- Troubleshoot routine mechanical or process issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Monitor product quality and identify issues
- Communicate equipment or production concerns to team leaders
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Crosstrain on other equipment within the production area
- Participate in training through the VMC Progression Program
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of stable manufacturing or printing experience preferred.
- 3 years' experience running roll-to-roll digital presses preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Thorough understanding paper stocks, weights, and finishes.
- Understanding of postal addressing and palletizing requirements.
- Roll-to-finish experience (MBO/Hunkler/iWeb).
- Ability to read English, interpret work instructions, numerical data, and ruler measurements.
- Ability to follow work instructions and production specifications
- Ability to recognize deviations in quality control standards.
- Basic computer and Office application skills. SAP experience preferred.
- Basic to intermediate math computation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods
- Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work around industrial equipment and noise (hearing protection provided)
Work Environment
- Fast-paced noisy production environment using hearing protection
- Climate-controlled manufacturing facility
- Overtime and weekend work may be required
