We are seeking a highly motivated Wind Turbine Troubleshooting and Commissioning Technician to join our dynamic team of independent contractors in the onshore renewable energy sector.
In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning new wind turbines, diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring optimal turbine performance. Your expertise will help drive the success of our renewable energy projects by maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Duties
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on wind turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Commission new turbines by conducting system checks, calibrations, and testing procedures to ensure proper operation before energization.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
- Conduct tower climbs safely using appropriate rigging techniques and adhere to hazardous energy control procedures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and rigging gear to perform repairs or modifications on turbine components.
- Follow strict safety protocols related to high voltage systems, low voltage controls, and generator repair activities.
- Document all troubleshooting activities, repairs, and commissioning steps thoroughly for compliance and quality assurance purposes.
- Collaborate with field service teams during scheduled maintenance or emergency repairs to maximize turbine uptime.
Skills
- Strong ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams with precision.
- Extensive electrical experience including low voltage and high voltage systems aligned with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Proficiency in welding, rigging, and construction site operations within an onshore renewable energy environment.
- Hands-on experience with wind turbine maintenance, troubleshooting electrical or mechanical failures effectively.
- Knowledge of energy control procedures such as hazardous energy lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices.
- Climbing certification for tower climbing activities with a focus on safety at heights.
- Familiarity with generator repair techniques and power tools usage for field service tasks.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and conduct detailed inspections using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience working in construction sites or industrial environments with a focus on safety compliance and hazard awareness.
