Role Description The Asphalt Paving Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ. This position is responsible for operating asphalt paving machines and related equipment to lay, spread, and compact asphalt for roads, parking lots, and other surfaces. Daily tasks include preparing work areas, assisting with grading and base preparation, monitoring material flow and thickness, and ensuring proper compaction and smoothness of finished surfaces. The role involves performing routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and safe operation of all machinery in accordance with company and regulatory standards. The Asphalt Paving Operator collaborates closely with crew members, follows site plans and supervisor instructions, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in operating asphalt paving equipment, rollers, and related machinery, including basic mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance.
- Candidates should possess skills in reading and following project plans, measuring and monitoring material levels, and maintaining quality control of pavement thickness and surface finish.
- Candidates should possess skills in workplace safety practices, safe equipment operation, and adherence to traffic control and OSHA guidelines on construction sites.
- Candidates should possess skills in teamwork, communication with supervisors and crew members, and following instructions in fast-paced outdoor environments.
- Candidates should possess skills in physical work, including standing for extended periods, lifting materials and tools, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Previous experience in asphalt paving, road construction, or heavy equipment operation is strongly preferred; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; willingness to participate in ongoing training and certifications in paving techniques and safety is beneficial.
