This role will perform fabrication and welding which requires knowledge of techniques and procedures as they relate to fabricating and welding complex components per drawings and specifications. Must have a thorough knowledge of reading drawings, exercise average judgment, and use skills to attain accuracy and conformance to specifications. Requires minimal supervision and can lead a team and train others if necessary.

This role will perform fabrication and welding which requires knowledge of techniques and procedures as they relate to fabricating and welding complex components per drawings and specifications. Must have a thorough knowledge of reading drawings, exercise average judgment, and use skills to attain accuracy and conformance to specifications. Requires minimal supervision and can lead a team and train others if necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Select specified sheets from stock or storage area. If necessary, perform layout that indicates bending, cutting, and drilling according to drawing, sketch, or verbal instruction.
- Apply extensive knowledge of mechanics, advanced mathematics including trigonometry, metal properties, layout and fabrication procedures.
- Constructs complex components out of various materials including TAD hoods, baffles, air modules and air system components.
- Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as: Shears, brakes, rolls, punch and forming press to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal parts.
- Capable of setting-up and operating GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, OFC, rolls, and Plasma Cutting equipment.
- Is knowledgeable in selecting proper wire, gas, and adjusting machines to proper parameters for given weld.
- Attaches rigging and operates overhead crane and/or use lift truck to move parts as necessary.
- Has extensive knowledge reading blueprints.
- Conforms to the requirements of the ISO 9000 systems.
- Helps ensure that safety policies are being followed, and reports concerns to management.
- Identifies areas for improvement throughout the manufacturing process with regards to safety, manufacturing, tools, and equipment.
- Uses 6S principles to maintain order and cleanliness throughout the fabrication process.
- Willingness to work overtime to meet delivery schedules.
- Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned.
- Willingness to travel to customer or vendor facilities when needed.

Education And/Or Experience
- Two-year technical college degree in manufacturing technology or equivalent formal training program.
- Minimum of 10 years related fabrication experience.
- Ability to read and understand complex drawings and various types of measuring instruments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Must be able to combine standing and walking 70% to 100% of a shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- Requirements include bending frequently, squatting, kneeling, climbing/balancing, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting from high/low positions occasionally; bending and pushing/pulling frequently.
- Repetitive use of hands would be for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling approximately up to 26 pounds of pressure, and fine manipulation.
