What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEP Electrical Engineer position at Vallum?
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for building projects (power, lighting, ELV, fire alarm, earthing, etc.).
- Perform electrical load calculations, prepare single-line diagrams, and produce detailed design drawings.
- Ensure compliance with international and local codes (NEC, IEC, BS, etc.).
- Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and structural teams to integrate design solutions.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and respond to RFIs.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical support during construction stages.
- Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, and design documentation.
- Participate in value engineering and optimization studies.
- Support tender evaluations and provide technical clarifications.
- Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices.
- Stay updated with new electrical design technologies and smart building systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 4–8 years of experience in MEP electrical design for building services.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, ETAP, or equivalent software.
- Solid understanding of electrical standards and codes (NEC, IEC, BS, local).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills in a remote team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LEED, PMP, or local authority certifications (DEWA, ADDC, etc.).
- Experience with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Membership in professional engineering organizations (e.g., IEEE, IET)
