Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing, structuring, and execution of tax equity, debt, and cash equity transactions for utility-scale and distributed generation projects.
- Negotiate term sheets, partnership agreements, credit agreements, and related transaction documents with investors and lenders.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Development, Legal, Accounting, Engineering, Asset Management) to optimize project structures and ensure bankability.
- Build and maintain relationships with tax equity investors, lenders, sponsors, and institutional investors.
- Manage all aspects of due diligence, financial modeling, and closing processes for project and portfolio financings.
- Provide strategic input on capital strategy, market trends, and valuation methodologies.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to analyze deal economics, investor returns, and sensitivities.
- Support long-term planning and capital allocation decisions in collaboration with executive leadership.
- Stay current with renewable energy finance trends, tax credit legislation (e.g., IRA provisions), and structured finance innovations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field; MBA, JD, or CPA preferred.
- 8–15 years of progressive experience in structured/project finance, with a strong background in renewable energy, clean energy, or infrastructure.
- Proven experience structuring and closing tax equity and debt financings for renewable projects (solar, wind, or storage preferred).
- Deep understanding of partnership flip, inverted lease, and sale-leaseback structures.
- Strong grasp of federal and state tax incentives (e.g., Investment Tax Credit, Production Tax Credit, depreciation).
- Exceptional negotiation, financial modeling, and analytical skills.
- Established network of relationships with tax equity investors, lenders, and institutional capital providers.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provisions and transferability of tax credits.
- Familiarity with storage, hybrid, and emerging clean energy technologies.
- Prior experience at a renewable energy developer, IPP, investment bank, or tax equity investor.
