What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Field Technician position at Vallum Associate?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Solar O&M Field Technician to support the operation and maintenance of solar PV systems. This role focuses heavily on troubleshooting inverters, diagnosing system issues, and ensuring optimal system performance across commercial, or utility-scale sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform operation & maintenance (O&M) on solar PV systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with inverters (e.g., string inverters, microinverters)
- Identify and resolve system faults including low production, communication issues, and string failures
- Conduct testing such as voltage, current, and performance checks
- Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections
- Replace or repair faulty components (inverters, optimizers, wiring, etc.)
- Complete RMA processes for defective equipment
- Document service activities, findings, and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
- Travel to multiple sites as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
- 2 years of experience in solar installation or O&M
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting solar PV systems
- Strong knowledge of inverter systems (Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA, etc.)
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and testing equipment (multimeter, clamp meter)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
