Medical Insurance Coordinator

Primary focus is to ensure patients are financially prepared for surgery by verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, obtaining accurate coverage information, preparing patient financial estimates, and communicating financial responsibility to parents and guardians. This role works closely with our surgery centers, referring offices, and internal teams to coordinate scheduling, resolve insurance-related issues, and help provide a seamless patient experience.

• Verify medical insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Review insurance coverage, limitations, exclusions, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses. 
• Prepare accurate financial estimates.
• Communicate financial estimates and payment options with parents and guardians in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Coordinate with surgery centers, referring offices, and internal departments to ensure patients are financially prepared prior to scheduling and surgery.
• Identify insurance-related barriers that may impact scheduling and work proactively to resolve them.
• Maintain accurate documentation of benefit verification and financial discussions.
• Respond to insurance inquiries from patients, parents, referring offices, and surgery center staff.
• Utilize payer websites and other resources to obtain eligibility, benefit and authorization information. 
• Assist with treatment plan reviews as needed.
• Support preauthorization and referral processes when applicable.
• Maintain knowledge of payer policies and insurance guidelines to ensure accurate financial information is communicated. 
• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. 
• Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
