Valley-Wide Health Systems is looking for a detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to support patient referrals, pre-authorizations, and care coordination while delivering excellent service to patients and healthcare partners.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Referrals & Pre-Authorizations:
- Obtain pre-authorizations in compliance with payer requirements
- Ensure referral providers and facilities are in-network based on insurance coverage
- Facilitate referral scheduling, including direct coordination of appointments and assisting patients with potential barriers
- Track and follow up on scheduled and unscheduled referrals to ensure patient compliance
- Acquire specialty notes following completed appointments
- Communicate referral status to patients via phone or written correspondence
Diagnostic Order Coordination:
- Manage and track diagnostic orders throughout the order cycle
- Schedule appointments, obtain necessary prior authorizations, and provide timely patient notifications
- Follow up on pending or incomplete orders, assisting patients in rescheduling as needed
- Refer patients with barriers (transportation, language, financial, etc.) to Case Management for additional support
Customer Service & Communication:
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal teams and external healthcare partners
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding referrals, pre-authorizations, and appointment processes
- Ensure proper documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and maintain tracking logs
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience:
- Two or more years of healthcare experience preferred
- Strong clinical and administrative skills
- Culturally competent with experience working with diverse populations
- Technical Skills:
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and multitasking ability
- Other:
- Professional demeanor with strong communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
