We’re looking for a compassionate Peer Support Specialist who is dedicated to empowering individuals through shared experiences, encouragement, and a commitment to fostering resilience and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional ethics/boundaries, avoid conflicts of interest/dual relationships, model personal responsibility, hopefulness by being a mentor of recovery.
- Be a positive example of recovery, modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness.
- Support and maintain their own recovery.
- Educate individuals’ family members and other supportive individuals, about recovery and recovery supports.
- Provide peer support services to individuals helping them develop the skills necessary to move forward in their recovery.
- Assist individuals in accomplishing their goals; recognize their strengths/challenges and propose helpful strategies for growth.
- Assist individuals with investigating, selecting, and utilizing resources, services, and supports.
- Work with individuals in groups or one on one providing information and peer support services related to health and wellness.
- Initiate contact with individuals, focusing on the content and emotion communicated.
- Engage with others in a trauma-free manner while demonstrating genuine acceptance/respect.
- Manage difficult situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of those involved. Maintain a welcoming client/guest-centered environment.
- Assist individuals in accessing treatment and navigating systems of care, connecting with community resources.
- Demonstrate adequate problem-solving skills, the ability to recognize the need for change.
- Maintain up-to-date information about community resources and services.
- Document/Communicate individuals’ participation and interactions in Peer activities.
- Provide coverage for Peer 613, Peer 404, Day 1, the RAC, crisis paired response, and secure transports.
- Ensure peer locations are clean and safe, while delivering high-quality services effectively.
- Transport and/or accompany individuals to and from community appointments/activities as directed.
Qualification & Requirements:
- Pass a mandatory preemployment drug screening.
- Must pass a mandatory criminal background test.
- Associate’s degree in computer technology or experience equivalent to 1-2 years’ experience as system support
- Strong computer skills and experience with and knowledge of workstation OS.
- Experience in supporting workstations and peripherals
- Experience in customer service.
- Workstation and peripheral deployment
Peer Coding Requirements
Experience: Must meet the Peer Coding requirements (below)
- Must have lived experience, such as a personal history of:
- Drug or alcohol addiction and recovery.
- Mental health condition diagnosis/experience and recovery.
- Trauma; and/or
- Provision of care to a minor with an addiction or mental health condition.
- Must successfully complete Core Competency Training, provided by the agency.
Must be willing to appropriately use and share personal experiences to promote hope, personal growth, and recovery
