Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling processes, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires strong communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Medical Scheduler will play a crucial role in enhancing patient service and supporting the overall operations of our medical office.
Duties
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Manage incoming calls on multi-line phone systems, addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Verify insurance information and assist with insurance verification processes.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review care plans and ensure all necessary documentation is complete prior to patient visits.
- Process medical collections and manage billing inquiries related to CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize scheduling efficiency and enhance patient care.
- Assist in the intake process for new patients, gathering necessary information for their medical records.
- Support front desk operations by managing patient flow and ensuring a welcoming environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management practices.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with dental software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare staff.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
