Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various press brake machines, ensuring accurate bending of sheet metal according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce precise components.
- Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brakes for automated bending operations, optimizing machine performance and throughput.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure quality compliance throughout production.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, including proper use of hand tools, cranes, forklifts, and other fabrication equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of tooling and machine calibration to prevent defects and ensure consistent output.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, welding, stamping presses, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and assembly processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation for various machining processes such as laser cutting, plasma cutting, milling, lathe work, and EDM is highly desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T specifications for precise fabrication.
- Knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication techniques including tooling setup and adjustment.
- Skilled in using hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and quality inspection tools for ensuring dimensional accuracy.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating measurements and machine settings.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes safely.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance during all stages of production.
