We are currently looking to bring on a new PRN infusion nurse in Galax, Virginia.
Valley Vital Care is an infusion pharmacy located in Waynesboro, VA. We service all of Virginia and West Virginia, with locations in Winchester, Strasburg, Midlothian, Waynesboro, Lynchburg, and Roanoke, Virginia, as well as Charleston, West Virginia.
We provide IV therapies to patients in our pharmacy suites as well as in the patient’s home. Therapies include biologic therapy for chronic conditions, long- and short-term antibiotic therapies for self-administration, TPN, and enteral feedings.
Infusions range from 30 minutes to 4 hours, with frequencies ranging from weekly to every 8 weeks. The potential exists for nurses to pick up as many or as few assignments as desired.
Infusion time and travel will be compensated.

The Home Infusion Nurse works to provide a positive, safe, and professional patient care experience. This nurse is responsible for the quality and accuracy of services provided and performs all tasks with the utmost care for the patient’s wellbeing.
• Thoroughly reviews patient orders, medications, and health records, and administers parenteral medications in accordance with the treatment plan.
• Assesses and monitors each patient’s health status, detecting changes in symptoms or condition and knowing when additional intervention is necessary.
• Thoroughly and accurately documents all activities in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and maintains ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations.
The duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse – Infusion include, but are not limited to:
• Provides friendly and professional service in person, over the phone, and through written communications.
• Demonstrates empathy and understanding to establish rapport with patients and caregivers.
• Initiates and maintains IV access for infusions.
• Safely and accurately administers medications without errors, including oral, IM, SQ, and IV products.
• Performs ongoing patient assessments and notifies the supervising clinician of all abnormal findings.
• Accurately performs necessary nursing responsibilities including, but not limited to, obtaining lab specimens, performing vital signs, and administering oxygen therapy.
• Demonstrates appropriate storage and handling of drug products as well as human specimens.
• Counsels and advises patients regarding symptom and side-effect management during therapy and within the scope of practice.
• Teaches patients and family members about the treatment care plan and what to expect, and thoroughly documents the teaching and the response to teaching.
• Communicates clearly and effectively with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Exhibits compassion and instills trust with patients and caregivers.
• Collects and records all patient data as required per the care plan and/or other protocol, and analyzes patient trends and outcomes.
• RN License – Required
• IV Infusion Experience – 1 year preferred
