What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bradford Registered Nurse position at VALLEY VISTA?
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Obtains a comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient at admission
• Medicates for withdrawal symptoms, based on physicians’ orders and in compliance with organization policy.
• Initiates nursing process by planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing case based on clinical knowledge, patient needs, and data collection
• Assists medical staff as necessary and appropriate
• Collects specimens from patients as appropriate
• Documents nursing care provided including interventions and plans in patient record as required
• Maintains close communication with clinical staff regarding any medical information that may impact patient treatment plan
• Performs mental status evaluation to determine the need for further psych evaluation. May administer BDI and/or HS Can work as a member of the Valley Vista team
• Supervises LPNs and LNAs in the Nursing and Detox Program
• Trains new employees, and plans, assigns, and directors work
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must hold a current valid license to practice in the State of Vermont.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum 1-year experience in a chemical dependency facility or related and 2-3 years related experience preferred, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
