Job Overview
Valley View School is seeking dependable and caring Residential Staff for an awake overnight position. This role supports the safety, structure, and well-being of students during overnight hours in our therapeutic boarding school community.
Valley View School is a small, relationship-based therapeutic boarding school in Central Massachusetts serving boys ages 10–15. Our residential staff play an important role in helping students feel safe, supported, and cared for while maintaining a structured and consistent environment.
The ideal candidate is reliable, calm, responsible, and comfortable working with students in a residential school setting. Prior experience in residential care, education, youth work, or human services is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
● Serve as an adult role model for students
● Monitor dorms throughout the overnight shift
● Conduct hourly bed checks
● Complete hourly campus checks
● Respond calmly and appropriately to rare disruptions during the evening hours
● Maintain safety, supervision, and structure during overnight hours
● Attend required staff training sessions and meetings
● Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
● Dependable, trustworthy, and responsible
● Ability to work overnight hours
● Able to remain awake and alert throughout the shift
● Calm and professional when responding to student needs
● Comfortable working around students and staff in a residential school setting
● Ability to follow procedures and communicate clearly with supervisors
● Prior residential, school, childcare, or human services experience preferred, but not required
