Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep, repair, and functionality of the mall’s facilities and equipment. This role ensures the property remains safe, operational, and visually appealing for tenants, shoppers, and staff by addressing maintenance needs promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections of the property, identifying and addressing maintenance issues
- Complete general repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems to ensure proper climate control throughout the mall
- Maintain lighting systems, replacing bulbs and fixtures as needed
- Respond to maintenance requests from tenants and management in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and building systems
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of equipment and infrastructure
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas, tools, and equipment
- Assist with setup and teardown for mall events and seasonal displays
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary
- Support emergency response efforts (e.g., spills, weather-related issues, equipment failures)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred
- Commercial HVAC certification required
- 1–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in commercial or retail settings
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, along with basic plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
