Dispatcher (Control Code 24158)

VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a Dispatcher position. Valley View Transportation Department hours of operation are from 5:00AM – 7:00PM.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Assistant Directors the individual will supervise driver and monitor daily operations. Some of these duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Daily supervision of driving and monitor staff

• Review routes for safety hazards
• Answer phones and assist callers
• Direct radio operations and communications
• Provide leadership during emergencies and vehicle accidents following Board Policies
• In depth knowledge of all laws and regulations related to school bus transportation
• Ensure all required recordkeeping is filed and policies related to vehicle crashes are followed
• Maintain accurate student files and school bus routes
• In depth knowledge of General, Special Education and Bilingual Bus Routing
• Fleet Scheduling – creating Driver Directions
• Required to drive routes where student transportation is needed and there is a shortage of drivers
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Able to speak and write in Spanish a plus
• Professional leadership and organizational skills
• Working knowledge of Special Education Transportation requirements
• Proven experience in all aspects of school bus transportation operations
• Ability to communicate effectively with department staff members, parents and district staff internally and externally to resolve conflicts and concerns
• Proficient in Windows and Google applications
• Experience with computer/manual routing and scheduling, working knowledge of Versatrans Suite a plus
• Must have the ability and requirements to obtain and maintain the required license and permit for Illinois School Bus Driver
• Assistance with implementation of all Transportation related programs
• Provide input to overall driver training program to improve safety
• Ability to work alternative shifts

WORKING CONDITIONS: The position is full-time for twelve (12) months. The salary is competitive with excellent fringe benefits, including life, health and dental insurance.

PAY SCALE AND BENEFIT DISCLOSURE:

Pay:

• Between $18.00 - $21.00 Per Hour Based on Experience
