SUMMARY
Building Technician performs all types of maintenance on buildings and company properties including the following: painting, patching, plumbing, electrical, replacing, erosion control, and fencing buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Perform construction activities on buildings and grounds as required.
- Works with Network Department on Central office equipment as required.
- Works with underground crews with equipment, cabling, and associated equipment as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on generators and generator room.
- Protects, cleans, and ensures that preventative maintenance is performed on all jobs sites.
- Maintain accuracy in all reporting functions.
- Loads necessary tools, material and equipment on company vehicles and drives or rides to work locations.
- Acquires bids from contractors and supervises their work when needed.
- Work in a safe, conscientious manner in all environments using proper safety practices.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant OSHA, Safety, or Departmental standards as directed by supervisor.
- Ensures annual testing and inspection of fire systems, security systems and access control equipment.
- Reads and interprets facility architectural plans and technical drawings.
- Participates in project meetings and communicates relevant information to the department.
- Assist with the coordination and oversight of the company vehicle fleet.
- Schedule routine vehicle maintenance with approved vendors (oil changes, tire rotation, inspections.etc).
- Maintain fleet records including mileage, maintenance history and service schedules.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, organized and ready for operational use.
- Assist with vehicle assignments, fuel cards and fleet tracking.
- Must be able to work required overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and out-of-town assignments.
- Maintains a positive work environment through professional communication and conduct.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Building maintenance, plumbing, and air conditioning related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and insurable record.
Must pass pre-employment screen, physical and background checks.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work required overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and out-of-town assignments.
Must be able to attend and successfully complete required training courses.
