Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to safely and efficiently handle scrap materials and maintain operational flow. This role requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Operate scrap-handling equipment such as shear, material handlers, front-end loaders, and excavators to move, load, and sort materials.
- Use skid steers and forklifts for material handling and site maintenance.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Safely load and unload materials, adhering to company protocols and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain an organized and efficient yard.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and work areas.
- Follow all company policies and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including scrap-handling equipment, front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and similar machinery.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols in an industrial setting.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy materials as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid certifications for operating heavy equipment and forklifts are a plus.
- Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
