Middle School Boys/Girls Lacrosse Coach (Grades 6–8)
Are you passionate about lacrosse and inspiring young athletes? The Valley School of Ligonier is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Middle School Lacrosse Coach to lead our student-athletes in grades 6–8 during the spring season.
Our private school values character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. We are looking for a coach who is committed to developing athletes of all skill levels while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
Season
- March through mid-May
- Practice Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:30–4:00 p.m.
- Occasional games may extend beyond regular practice hours.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate practices.
- Teach fundamental and advanced lacrosse skills to athletes with varying levels of experience.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and safe team environment where every athlete feels valued and supported.
- Motivate student-athletes to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Prepare the team for competitions while emphasizing skill development and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and school administration.
- Uphold the mission and values of the school both on and off the field.
Qualifications
- Previous playing and/or coaching experience in lacrosse.
- Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies, and fundamentals of the game.
- Positive, energetic coaching style with the ability to connect with middle school students.
- Experience coaching athletes with a wide range of abilities and skill levels.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging athletic environment.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching middle school or youth athletes.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to meet all school employment and background check requirements.
