The Horticulture Coordinator leads the greenhouse and horticulture program as a vocational training environment for men in recovery. This role integrates Christian discipleship, work training, and horticultural production to help program participants develop responsibility, job skills and spiritual growth.
Some of the essential responsibilities for this position include the following:
1. Horticulture Program Management
- Plan and oversee greenhouse production cycles - Manage planting, propagation, watering, fertilizing and pest control - Maintain healthy plant inventory - Ensure proper care of all greenhouse equipment and buildings
2. Vocational Training and Mentorship
- Train program participants in horticulture operations - Provide daily supervision and structured work assignments - Model Christian character, work ethic and leadership - Encourage spiritual growth and personal accountability
3. Operations and Planning
- Plan seasonal growing schedules - Maintain supplies, tools and materials
- Ensure safe and efficient greenhouse operations - Assist in developing long-term horticulture program goals
4. Leadership Team/Men in our program
- While the Horticulture program is a priority, the horticulture coordinator is expected to interact with the leadership team and with the men on a consistent basis - The horticulture coordinator is an integral part of the leadership team at Crossroads
5. Budgeting
-Ability to plan for the current and future growing seasons as it relates to horticulture operaions.
