Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments using managed care systems and insurance portals
- Assist patients with understanding their dental insurance plans, including coverage limits and co-payments
- Process insurance claims accurately utilizing CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD (International Classification of Diseases), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining the confidentiality of medical records and sensitive information
- Collaborate with dental office staff to confirm eligibility, process payments, and resolve claim denials or discrepancies
- Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications, claim submissions, and follow-up actions in medical records systems
- Stay updated on changes in managed care policies, dental insurance procedures, and relevant coding guidelines to ensure accuracy
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental office administration or dental office experience with a focus on insurance processing
- Strong knowledge of managed care procedures, medical terminology, and medical/dental coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Experience with insurance verification processes and handling medical records efficiently
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing documentation
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives to resolve issues promptly
- Office experience in a dental setting is preferred
- This is a state of the art startup oral surgery practice utilizing Denticon PMS, DentalXchange and Weave.
