Responsibilities
- Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure (tonometry), and conducting eye refraction assessments.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and updating electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems) accurately while maintaining strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support the ophthalmologist during procedures by preparing the exam room, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring proper aseptic technique throughout clinical procedures.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/Epic) efficiently, documenting exam findings, and updating patient records securely.
- Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience during ophthalmic examinations.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control standards and operating medical equipment safely.
- Support front desk operations when needed, including scheduling appointments, check in and check out, answering billing questions, managing patient flow, and assisting with retail sales of optical products.
