What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Valley Optometric Associates?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our growing eye care clinic. You will be the first point of contact for patients, preparing them for their examinations by performing preliminary diagnostic tests and ensuring smooth daily clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Record patient medical history, check patient's insurance(s), take copays.
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform specialized tests such as visual fields, retinal imaging, auto-refraction.
- Patient Education: Instruct patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care, as well as general eyewear maintenance.
- Clinical Assistance: Prepare and sanitize exam rooms, stock supplies, and assist the optometrist during examinations as needed.
- Administrative Support: Update electronic health records (EHR) accurately, manage appointment scheduling, and handle basic patient inquiries.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an allied health program or certification a plus.
- Experience: Experience in a healthcare or optometric setting recommended but not required.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, active listening, and a friendly, patient-focused demeanor.
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
