Overview:
Small private practice seeking skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician or assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients.
Responsibilities:
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and check in/out patients
- Assist veterinarians in performing medical procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Take radiographs
- Draw up and administer vaccines and injections
- Prepare animals for surgery
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
- Assist with dental procedures
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Maintain accurate medical records
Skills:
- Knowledge of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during surgeries and procedures
- Strong animal handling skills to ensure the safety of both the animals and the veterinary team
- Understanding of animal care principles, including nutrition, exercise, and preventive healthcare measures
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology to effectively communicate with veterinarians and other team members
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, including sample collection, analysis, and interpretation of test results
- Excellent pet care skills, including administering medications, providing wound care, and monitoring vital signs
- Understanding of animal husbandry practices to ensure the well-being of animals under your care
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Higher education is valued but not required
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant /Technician is necessary
