Night Shift Respiratory Therapist (RT) Responsibilities
The Night Shift Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations. Responsibilities include:
- Set up, operate, and monitor ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment
- Administer prescribed therapeutic gases and aerosolized medications
- Monitor and document patient responses to respiratory treatments
- Perform respiratory assessments and evaluate patient condition
- Maintain proper treatment settings including oxygen levels, humidity, and temperature
- Troubleshoot and adjust respiratory equipment as needed
- Report changes in patient condition to physicians and nursing staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Inspect and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; coordinate repairs when necessary
- Support staff education and training as appropriate
Requirements – Night Shift Respiratory Therapist (RT)
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program
- Active North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
- Required Respiratory Therapist certifications
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care
Education & Experience
- One to three months of Respiratory Therapist experience preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
