Valley Medical Group is looking for a Surgical Technician to join our Endoscopy team and work in our Ambulatory Surgery and Procedure Center located at our Amherst Medical Center. If you are looking for a dynamic environment, this is your opportunity!
Position: Surgical Technician
Location: Amherst, MA
Hours: Per diem. Hours are generally between 8:00am-4:30pm. Hours may vary depending on department needs.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will be part of our clinical team responsible for preparing equipment and procedure rooms according to established protocols and assisting the physician and RN in the implementation of the established plan of care and during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for assigned procedures
- Processes specimens in accordance with procedure guidance
- Performs general documentation based on unit functional needs, e.g. use of the CIS computer, telephone communications skills, filing, processing charges
- Assists the physician and RN in the implementation of the established plan of care and during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Maintains room supplies and equipment; includes ordering and restocking. Performs cleaning and disinfecting of endoscopes, rooms and equipment and provide endoscopy room turnover
- Responds to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician
- Demonstrate knowledge and practice of safety, security and infection control protocols in Gastroenterology and ambulatory surgery
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Surgical Technician training program and/or equivalent experience and demonstrated clinical competence.
- CPR certified
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery and/ or Endoscopy Surgery setting
