The Role

We are looking for a resourceful and motivated Field Technician to join our team at Valley Internet. This role is diverse and hands-on, involving site surveys, installations, and maintenance of both customer equipment and network infrastructure. Because of the rural nature of our service areas, each day brings something different—whether it’s setting up a wireless link on rugged terrain, servicing a remote base station miles off the main road, or deploying IoT solutions that help safeguard our customers when wildfires break out.

Responsibilities:

• Survey and design customer and base station sites, document findings clearly
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless, IoT, and network equipment
• Run and terminate low-voltage cables, mount equipment, and complete installs in attics, crawlspaces, and rooftops in a professional manner
• Perform service calls and upgrade or remove old equipment as needed
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot base stations in the field (including off-road access)
• Represent Valley Internet professionally with every customer interaction
• Keep trucks and tools well-maintained and follow safety procedures at all times
• Contribute to team discussions and propose improvements to tools, methods, and customer experience

Requirements:

• Strong work ethic, great attention to detail, and pride in delivering high-quality results
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with both customers and teammates
• Quick learner with a proactive approach to improvement, open to feedback, and eager to contribute to better team processes
• Basic computer, networking, and general craftsmanship skills; comfortable using hand tools and light construction equipment
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record
• High school diploma required; some college and previous field or technical experience preferred
• Willing and able to handle ATVs, drive off-road, and participate in extended hours or weekend on-call rotations when needed
• Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs, maneuvering in tight spaces (attics/crawlspaces), climbing ladders, rooftops, towers, and working outdoors in varying conditions

Pay: $54,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
