Position Summary:
Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist is generally responsible for three pre-analytical functions: patient registration and order entry, phlebotomy, and specimen processing. The percentage of time spent in each of these functions will vary with location. The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist may also be responsible for specimen pick-up, report sorting and delivery, supply delivery, and other tasks related to the operation of the specific location. This is a high-visibility position with primarily inpatient and outpatient (in the hospital environment) contact. Work situations require professionalism in demeanor, communication and dress, an ability to establish trust and confidence with patients and/or patient families, and a service approach to the job. Internal contacts include other laboratorians and other facility co-workers; external contacts include patients, families, and physicians.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist eligible within six (6) months of hire.
High School diploma or equivalent
Current Washington State Drivers License
Compensation Range:
L - Min: $15.74-Max: $85.21
