Job Description
The Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor to all levels of leadership in the organization. This role aligns HR strategies with operational and clinical goals, ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies to support a highly reliable, patient focused culture. The Senior HRBP is responsible for acting as a liaison between HR centers of excellence and operational leaders, managing complex employee relations issues, driving employee engagement, supporting workforce development, retention and fostering a healthy workplace culture rooted in Valley Health’s mission and values. Works independently without direct supervision, consulting with the Vice President, HR Business Partnerships for unusual and or highly sensitive situations. This role requires leadership, organizational and teaching skills and must be able to maintain a professional and confidential demeanor with employees, medical staff, physicians, and patients/families.
Strategic Partnership
Bachelors Human Resources or related field required.
Experience
Four or more years' related work experience in human resources, with at least two years of generalist experience supporting senior and executive leaders.
Experience working with Tableau, database management tools, statistical reporting software, or decision support systems required.
Certification & Licensures
HR Certification (PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP) preferred within two years of hire.
Qualifications
Ability to review multiple data sources and prepare and present concise analysis required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Excellent leadership and talent development skills.
Ability to foster growth and professional development of employees and leadership team.
Ability to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization and accomplish objectives through influence and relationships.

Strategic Partnership
- Collaborate with executives, operational leaders, and HR leadership to develop and implement workforce strategies that support clinical and strategic operational goals.
- Provide expert guidance on organizational design, talent management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Analyze workforce trends and provide recommendations to reduce turnover, improve engagement, and enhance retention.
- Partner with the HR centers of excellence to communicate operational challenges, inform new programs and services, and support HR initiatives, programs, and work products.
- Lead investigations into sensitive employee relations issues including harassment, discrimination, and patient safety concerns.
- Partner with legal, compliance, and risk management to mitigate legal risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coach leaders through performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution strategies.
- Support accreditation process and ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g. DNV, OSHA, CMS, etc.).
- Support recruitment strategy by working with Talent Acquisition to align hiring with long-term organizational needs.
- Participate in employee onboarding, engagement planning, and workforce development strategies.
- Guide leaders on team structure, role design, and FTE management.
- Interpret and enforce policies and labor laws.
- Review and recommend updates to policies and procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
- Support organizational change initiatives including system integrations, leadership transitions, expansions or changes in programs, etc.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts across the system.
- Serve as a voice of the employee while reinforcing hospital mission and values.
