Job Description
The Epic Certified Applications Analyst and Data Courier Coordinator implements and maintains Epic systems and databases to ensure optimum performance. This role manages complex Information System (IS) projects and products using the Epic solution to provide automated solutions that meet business needs. On-call is required for this position.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsible for implementation and management of Epic systems, databases, and applications, by facilitating updates, new releases, and system enhancements, to ensure optimum performance.
Responsible for conducting and leading system investigations to determine general feasibility, cost, and alternative system solutions as evidenced by interviewing users to define requirements and objectives of automation.
Serves as applications support contact to troubleshoot problems, incorporate end user preferences, ensure the availability of reports and collect other relative information in order to optimize user experience.
Serves as the technical resource when assistance is needed for data courier issues and mass migration events.
Helps to manage updates to exempted master files and IPG security.
Responsible for the Epic change control and data migration process in order to deliver changes and updates to the production environment that are error free and cause no harm to patients or disruption to end users.
Responsible for monitoring data courier migrations to ensure that system policy and processes are followed, and for maintaining and updating the list of production approved data couriers.
Conducts or participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost and evaluate usefulness.
Conducts analysis of new functionality to assess usefulness and determines an implementation schedule in conjunction with established review procedures.
Conducts analysis of complex processes as evidenced by collaboration, research, workflow analysis, and data extraction.
Participates in all phases of review and testing of new enterprise applications, and updates as evidenced by note and change review; development and execution of test data and scripts; validation of test results; and end user acceptance sign-off; in accordance with documentation standards.
Remains current on programming tools, methodologies, and industry standards, by participating in training classes and Epic New Version Training/Continuing Education and uses this information to make recommendations for team and analyst training programs to the Supervisor, Manager, and/or Director, in accordance with department budget and strategic plan.
Evaluates requests for service and participates in vendor demos, site visits, and reference calls.
Consults with internal customers to validate timeline and assumptions and incorporates validated information into the project plan.
Communicates project and team status to teammates and internal and external customers as necessary. Follows standards for on-call, downtime, and request processing.
Responds to and addresses system issues and requests as evidenced by following approved SLA goals, standards of work, and policy.
Follows through the incident and request lifecycle, from inception to completion, in accordance with Epic documentation standards.
Escalates status to Supervisor, Manager, and/or Director, in accordance with established standards and as appropriate.
Supports departmental processes such as project management as evidenced by project planning, problem resolution, change control, and quality assurance, in accordance with established standards.
Provides follow through on issues by reaching out to teams in order to facilitate issue resolution or address project constraints.
Participates in team meetings, huddles and work groups and provides minutes, vendor project correspondence and status reports, in accordance with IT documentation standards.
Follows procedures and standards for naming application/system guidelines.
Assists with IS projects in order to provide automated solutions that meet operational and business needs using enterprise solutions.
Assists in the development and implementation of employee training and mentoring activities.
Assists in prioritizing and implementing requested changes to enterprise applications systems in accordance to change management procedures.
Assists in maintenance and communication for new version releases and change control processes.
Education
Bachelor's degree or BSN is required for all new hires on or after 1/1/2017.
Experience
Minimum of four years of experience in an IT or healthcare role is required.
Experience In Change Management Is Required.
Experience in intra-system design is highly preferred.
Certification & Licensures
Minimum of one Epic certification or accreditation is required. Epic certification or accreditation in assigned module(s) or as specific by the applications required within 6 months of hire. Epic certification or accreditation must remain active for all essential certifications per Epic Corporation standards.
Active state license for Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse must be maintained for all nurses in the role effective 02/01/2018 and any licensed nurses hired into the role effective 02/01/2018.
Data Courier Administration certification is required
Qualifications
Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for health system.
Competent in Microsoft Office required.
Strong Verbal And Written Communication And Follow-up Skills Required.
Technical knowledge of coordinating, configuring and building healthcare IT to drive quality improvement, meaningful use and safety goals required.
Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists and follow a project plan required.
Ability to lead and mentor application teams required.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively for content build/project/upgrade as delegated by project manager/director required.
