Job Description
Under the direction and supervision of the WAR Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility (ECF), the Driver will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the ECF Resident while transporting them to and from medical appointments at various hours and days of the week. The Driver will complete all other duties assigned such as mapping daily routes as medical appointments occur, communicating with DON/Designee by telephone any appointment changes/transportation delays and problem-solving any transportation issues. The Driver will also be responsible for making sure that the van is cleaned and in working order after each use, as well as coordinating all regular scheduled maintenance. The Driver will support patient needs, escort patients who are fall risks, act as a member of the interdisciplinary team- communicating information, integrate appropriately with DON/Designee as needed.
Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification by AHA Healthcare Provider is required within six months of hire.
Must satisfy the requirements for and maintain a valid driver’s license, a DOT-equivalent medical examiner’s certificate, as well as submit to periodic drug screenings as defined by applicable federal, state, and VH policies and regulations.
Qualifications
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
Ability to build rapport with residents and a positive attitude are required.
Commitment to treat patients with dignity and respect is required.
Must be capable of working independently, presents a positive image by professional appearance, attitude, personality, customer service and body language.
