Role Description The Admission Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering nursing care during the intake process for patients entering VFMC’s treatment programs. This full-time, on-site role in Norristown, PA includes conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, obtaining medical histories, and evaluating physical and mental health status to determine appropriate levels of care. The Admission Nurse reviews and verifies documentation, collaborates closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, and ensures that admission orders, medications, and treatment plans are initiated accurately and promptly. Daily responsibilities include patient education about the admission process and treatment expectations, monitoring patients for withdrawal or acute symptoms, and documenting all assessments and interventions in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. The role also involves communicating with families and referral sources as appropriate, supporting a safe, respectful environment, and contributing to continuous improvement in patient care and admission workflows.

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Nursing skills, including patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation.
- Candidates should possess foundational Medicine knowledge to interpret clinical data, understand diagnoses, and support safe medication administration.
- Candidates should possess Palliative Care skills to provide compassionate, symptom-focused support for individuals with complex medical and psychosocial needs.
- Candidates should possess Home Care and Long-term Care experience or understanding to coordinate care transitions and support continuity of treatment.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania required; BSN or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, medical-surgical, or acute care settings is highly beneficial.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work flexible shifts as needed, maintain professional boundaries, and uphold all regulatory, ethical, and safety standards.
