Pharmacy Technician

Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Support pharmacological services by assembling, labeling, stocking and distributing medications.
2. Support pharmacological services by monitoring inventory by maintaining appropriate inventory by following established levels and storage procedures.
3. Verifies prescription refill requests by reviewing original prescription form and patient identification to determine if refill is authorized, based on the number of refills remaining and established time requirements.  
4. Conducts periodic audits and notifies supervisor of reordering requirements.  
5. Verifies inventory received against the invoice noting any inconsistencies and communicates inconsistencies to the pharmacist.  
6. Checks and stores prepackaged medications; restocks shelves and maintain neat appearance of inventory and work area.
7. Complies with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
8. Contact appropriate medical office personnel by telephone or message slip, as needed, to obtain refill authorization.
9. Counts and/or pours dosage into appropriate container and attach prescription label and refill instructions.
10. Maintain records on prescription fills. Includes processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete. Interprets, and accurately enters data regarding prescriptions into EPIC.
11. Respond to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering questions and referring various inquires to the Pharmacist.
12. Bills third party insurance plans accurately and resolves rejected claims in a timely manner.
13. Other related duties as assigned.     

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
2. Continuous sitting, standing, walking.
3. Correctable vision and hearing.
4. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
5. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician program or an Associate or Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Technology, required.
2. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification, required.
3. Current Oregon and Idaho state licenses or be able to obtain them.
4. Have a current American Heart Association BLS (can be obtained during the onboarding process).
5. Minimum 1 year supply and inventory management skills. Preference is as a pharmacy technician or a similar clinical professional.
6. Knowledge of a 340B program, preferred.
7. Experience with EPIC, preferred.
8. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
