On-Farm Mare Attendant

Full-time position working directly with veterinarians and staff to provide care for mares at Valley Equine Reproduction. Duties include handling horses, assisting with procedures, maintaining health and farrier records and administering medications. Requires hands-on experience with horses and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist mare manager by observing all mares daily, taking special consideration with regards to lameness, weight loss/gain, farrier work, medications and body condition.
• Assist veterinarians with palpations, ultrasounds, pregnancy checks, and other reproductive procedures
• Administer medications, draw blood, and give IM/IV injections
• Record and update all mare files in Excel and Wise Option 6
• Organize and maintain health records and Coggins/vaccination documents
• Communicate with clients, recipient farms, and outside facilities as directed
• Prepare sale horses and haul to events or appointments as needed, PCV,TP, etc.
• Ensure accurate, timely organization of all records and daily tasks
• Perform all lab work including but not limited to CBC, Chemistry, Lactat, PCV,TP, etc.
• Daily inventory/stocking for foal out barn, mare barn/lab and stud lab as well as ordering of all supplies with multiple vendors.

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician or equine reproduction experience required
• Strong horse handling skills; able to safely administer injections and draw blood
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; Wise Option 6 preferred
• Clear, professional communication skills
• Organized and reliable in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license; hauling experience preferred
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Physical stamina and mobility, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting as part of daily duties.
