The Pre-Trial & Recovery Support Coordinator works through VCDP's Sullivan County Pre-Trial & Recovery Support Program and Vermont Pretrial Services Program to provide screening, assessment, case management, and service coordination for justice-involved adults. This position helps individuals address barriers to success while connecting them with treatment, recovery supports, and community resources that reduce future justice system involvement.

This is a 32-hour-per-week position primarily serving Sullivan County, New Hampshire, with limited responsibilities supporting pretrial participants in Windsor County, Vermont.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trial screenings, assessments, and participant meetings within correctional facilities, courts, and community settings.
  • Develop individualized diversion, treatment, recovery, and stabilization plans based on participant strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Coordinate referrals to substance use treatment, recovery coaching, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), mental health services, housing supports, employment resources, and other community-based services.
  • Provide case management and ongoing support to participants throughout program involvement.
  • Maintain regular communication with participants to encourage engagement in services and successful completion of diversion goals.
  • Collaborate with the Sullivan County House of Corrections, local courts, treatment providers, recovery organizations, Vermont Department of Corrections personnel, and other community partners.
  • Assist participants in overcoming barriers to success, including transportation, identification documents, benefits access, employment readiness, and other stabilization needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, assessments, reports, and participant records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, program development efforts, and ongoing professional training.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Relevant experience working with justice-involved individuals, substance use disorders, mental health services, case management, recovery support, or related fields strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with community partners and team members.
  • Ability to engage participants respectfully while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Comfortable conducting assessments, case management, and participant meetings within county jails, correctional facilities, and other justice-system settings.
  • Proficiency with computers, databases, electronic record systems, and mobile technology.
  • Knowledge of community resources, treatment systems, recovery principles, and restorative justice practices preferred.
  • Lived experience relevant to recovery, reentry, or the justice system is welcomed and valued.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • References and background check required.

Schedule & Compensation

  • 32 hours per week.
  • Starting wage: $23.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Over five weeks of paid time off annually, available after 30 days of employment.
