Valley Counseling Center is hiring for a Resident in Counseling (Child & Adolescent Focus)-Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time- Depending on Client cases.

We are seeking a motivated Resident in Counseling who is passionate about working with young clients and developing their clinical skills in a nurturing environment.
Position Summary: The Resident in Counseling will provide individual and family counseling to children, adolescents and adults under clinical supervision. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to gain experience, build confidence, and deepen their specialization in child-focused therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults and families.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and create individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in weekly supervision with an approved clinical supervisor.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, schools, and community providers as appropriate.
- Engage in professional development opportunities provided by the practice.
- Attend monthly staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
- Active Resident in Counseling status (or pending approval) with the Virginia Board of Counseling
- Strong interest in working with children and adolescents.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a clinical team.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work or internship experience with children or families.
- Training in play therapy, CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, or related modalities.
- Experience with electronic health records.
