What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Stability Specialist position at VALLEY COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER INC?
NATURE OF WORK: The Crisis Stabilization Specialist provides daily support, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and referrals to consumers and potential consumers of Valley. These services include assistance with basic living skills, support services, residential duties, treatment and discharge planning, mentoring, referrals, and working with the consumers at all phases of the crisis intervention and recovery process as outlined by Valley, state, and federal guidelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-Doors 95% of the time; outdoors and transportation areas 5% of the time
WORK PACE: Pace is determined by the need of the client(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Processes, completes, and submits required documentation as required by Valley, Medicaid, Medicare, private insurances, and any other licensing agencies ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide basic living skills support to consumers within the Crisis Unit.
- Monitor consumers within the Crisis Unit to ensure their needs are being met in accordance with the treatment plan.
- Conduct supportive counseling sessions for the consumers in the Crisis Unit as indicated by their treatment plan.
- Work closely with the Crisis Team to provide continuous and supportive care to consumers.
- Answer 24-hour crisis support and intervention hotline providing crisis support, intervention, and/or referrals.
- Work closely with other agencies, hospitals, providers, and sources to ensure the referral process is always being offered.
- Implement treatment and behavioral plans in compliance with Valley, state, and federal guidelines.
- Promote appropriate community interactions by handling public relations in a professional and competent manner.
- Return telephone calls and requests for information in a timely manner promoting a positive image of the program and agency while maintaining good rapport with agency contacts.
- Perform daily residential duties such as laundry, tracking inventory, and stocking inventory.
- Assist with cleaning duties on the unit as assigned by supervisor to meet licensure requirements.
- Assure that the safety, health, and well-being of consumers are maintained on or off site.
- Transport consumers as needed to and from the CRU.
- Adhere to Valley’s standards of conduct and compliance and follow ethical guidelines of the profession.
- Aids in the training of new employees.
- Attend all mandated meetings and trainings while enhancing knowledge and skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below:
- BA/BS in Human Service Field.
- Valid Photo ID
- Ability to comply with Consumer’s Rights.
- Ability to comply with Valley’s and Division departmental safety procedures.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Possess basic computer and E-Mail skills
- Ability to document/type into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Excellent Communication skills to work as part of a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Crisis work.
- Experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorder fields.
- Knowledge of commitment law.
- Knowledge of diverse disability populations.
- Knowledge of community resources for behavioral health issues.
