Meaningful opportunity for a human services professional to support children and adolescents at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center in Verona. The Juvenile Detention Case Manager provides comprehensive case management, assessment, crisis intervention, stabilization, and community support services to youth experiencing serious emotional, behavioral health, and substance use challenges. Working closely with Juvenile Center staff, families, treatment providers, and other community partners, this position helps identify each youth’s needs, coordinate appropriate services, and support continuity of care during and following detention. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication and documentation skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with youth from varied backgrounds. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field and two years of clinical experience working with children and families.

Benefits
  • Salary range from $47,618.83 - $66,378.00.
  • Health Insurance as low as $40/month for individuals. Family and dependent plans are also available.

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Provides comprehensive case management and community support services to children and adolescents placed at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center.
  • Conducts intake interviews, assesses treatment needs, contributes to individualized treatment planning, and administers approved assessment instruments.
  • Provides crisis intervention, stabilization, and emergency support as needed.
  • Connects youth and families with appropriate behavioral health, substance use, and other community-based treatment services.
  • Collaborates with Juvenile Center staff, families, treatment providers, Family Assessment and Planning Teams, and other community partners to coordinate care and support successful transitions.
  • Maintains timely, complete, and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with agency standards and applicable Medicaid requirements.
  • Participates actively in clinical and administrative supervision, interdisciplinary team meetings, and other program-related meetings.
  • Maintains professional boundaries and positive working relationships grounded in courtesy, compassion, and respect.
  • Protects client rights and confidentiality and complies with applicable agency, Juvenile Center, licensure, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold or obtain within 90 days of employment a valid Virginia driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience providing services to children, adolescents, and their families, particularly children and adolescents with or at risk of severe emotional disturbance (SED).
  • Fastidious detail management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with others.
  • An appreciation for and support of diversity in all its forms, and a demonstrated ability to interact with or serve individuals with diverse backgrounds, including clients, coworkers, and members of the community.
